A Slow Start

(March 26th) I made it down to Florida - namely the Gulf Coast area around Fort Meyers. The weather is a pleasant relief from the Michigan cold. I decided to start out heading over to famous Ding Darling NWR. Since the morning was used up in transit, I only had the afternoon available to me. Maybe the tides were wrong, but Ding Darling was incredibly slow. This Spotted Sandpiper was one of the few subjects I found. Someone should tell it that it's not supposed to be in a tree :)

Near the sandpiper, there was a lively Palm Warbler. Like most warblers, it just refused to stay still. Not exactly the best background either, but hey, I was desperate to take some pictures!
